One of the hardest things for a disadvantaged child to learn is that he or she is worth being loved. White Horse Youth Ranch is committed to reaching out to disadvantaged or underprivileged children by providing an enriching environment where they can learn life skills and work with rescued horses who need a child's love and care, too.
I walk in faith knowing that the White Horse Youth Ranch will not only be a place of healing for hurt children, but will begin healing in each of our wounded hearts." - Amy Meyer, Founder.
The White Horse Youth Ranch features programs and on-site facilities that encourage children to learn horse-care skills, as well as building their self-confidence through supervised horse-riding activities. The site features include stall barns, round pens, riding arena, activity rooms and recreation areas. Each site feature is utilized in various educational or recreational programs that are geared to the ultimate goals of rebuilding children's spirits; providing a safe haven for children in the midst of tumultuous life situations; or simply providing structured extracurricular activities to children who may not have access to other forms of safe recreation.
While our focus is mainly dedicated to disadvantaged or underprivileged children, we are open to every child. Our anticipated opening will be Fall 2007. Please check the Program Calendar and Event Calendar for more information and for our hours of operation.
A Feature-length documentary "The Making of White Horse Youth Ranch (WHY Ranch)" depicting the struggles, triumphs and miraculous bond between rescued abused, neglected horses and underprivileged children is currently in Pre-Production.
Watch the touching stories of rebuilding families, developing trust, character and self-esteem in today's underprivileged youth bonding with unwanted horses unfold before your eyes. "The Making of WHY RANCH" allows viewers to peak into the bond created between hurting horses finding new life in the fragile, loving hands of their new friends mending broken lives and hearts. One of the missions of this feature-length documentary is to extend awareness of the domestic issues faced by and hope for the youth of today. Primary funding for this project is provided by the Paul E. & Helen S. Meyer Foundation.
